Job Summary

ClerkBooks, Inc. hires accounting professionals with experience as a Municipal Clerk, Municipal Treasurer or Municipal Auditor for the Accounting Support Representative position.

Support Representatives provide remote support, training, and mentoring to Clerks, Treasurers, Administrators, Council/Board Members and Auditors from Counties, Cities, Villages, Towns, and Townships across the United States.

Relocation is not necessary. All work is performed remotely through the internet. Travel may be required for regional conferences or continuing education.

Duties include: bookkeeping/accounting assistance, troubleshooting, and training; software installation and maintenance; and other customer service related tasks. On-going training and continuing education will be provided.

Applicants must demonstrate a solid knowledge of accounting principles including an understanding governmental funds, debits & credits, cash vs accrual accounting, payables & receivables, payroll & sales tax liabilities and journal entries. You must also have experience with, and a moderate to advanced level knowledge of Excel.

Local government fund accounting, utility billing, or governmental auditing experience (such as a City Treasurer, Utility Clerk, or City Auditor) is required. An Accounting Certificate or Degree is preferred. A combination of experience and classes taken towards a Certified Municipal Treasurer may be accepted in lieu of a Certificate or Degree.

Since Support Reps work directly with customers, you must be able to work well with others, be socially perceptive, an active listener, able to manage time well, and able to teach others. You must possess excellent oral and written comprehension along with mathematical reasoning. You will also need to be able to multi-task and juggle schedules and priorities.

The position requires a Windows 11 computer, two monitors, high-speed internet, hands free headset, and excellent cell phone reception. (a smart phone will be provided)

Positions can either be full-time (35+ hours per week) or part-time (less than 35 hours per week). Regular support hours are Monday-Friday 8am – 5pm central time. Schedule is flexible. Work hours may vary seasonally.

Wages are competitive and will be determined by your education, experience and job performance. Job Summary

We are seeking detail-oriented Data Migration Specialists to join our team. These employees will be responsible for accurately converting municipal government accounting records from our customer's current software system(s) to our new web based system, while ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of information. They will primarily work in our software, QuickBooks, Excel and SQL Server Management Studio. However, our customers use a variety of software systems. Having the ability to quickly navigate through and gather information from unfamiliar software is crucial.

Data Migration Specialists work directly with an Accounting Support Representative with limited interaction with the customer.

Relocation is not necessary. All work, and training, will be performed remotely through the internet.

Duties

  • Perform bulk data entry tasks by transferring large sections of information between computer systems and databases.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Collect and organize data for reporting purposes, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Handle projects efficiently, ensuring timely completion of project.
  • Utilize basic math skills to verify numerical data and perform calculations.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve data collection processes and systems.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or specialized certificates in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficient in data entry and database management with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with various software applications and systems including Windows, QuickBooks, Excel and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Basic knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred - advanced level training will be provided
  • Basic knowledge of Excel formulas is required - advanced level training will be provided.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL syntax is required - advanced level training will be provided.
  • Basic math skills for handling numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to navigate through large sets of data quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

ClerkBooks, Inc. hires Application Developers with a strong background in data-driven software development.

Duties include: web-based software development for local government applications. Initial training on the ClerkBooks systems will be provided. Initial programming skills training will not be provided. Applicants must already know how to write code. Continuing education will be provided.
